Our Team

  • Tara Bogolea-Hodson D.V.M

    Hello :)

I have been in veterinary medicine since 2013 as a doctor, and I worked for 12 years before that at Sonora Veterinary Group. I love being able to make a difference in my patients’ lives by providing owners with the time they wouldn’t have otherwise had. I’m proudest of my family, which include my wonderful staff as well. The best thing about SVG are my coworkers. I’m inspired by their dedication to our patients and their care is unbeatable. I wish every pet owner knew how much each staff member gives of themselves for the patients. Behind closed doors we cry over losses, and are overjoyed by unexpected victories.

  • Charley Bennett D.V.M

I have been a doctor for 43 years, and worked as a veterinary assistant for 6 years before that. I started this career because I wanted to make a positive difference in the quality of life for animals and their owners. I still believe that we really do make a difference here. Even after seeing quite a few cases, I still love the challenge and satisfaction of intricate problem solving, and the joy of those clients who are so happy to see their pet get better. Other than being a doctor, I really enjoy antique automobiles, quarter horses, and wildlife. For the pet owners I’d say: In my experience, people who enter the veterinary profession, at all levels, do it with a genuine love of animals.

  • Jeana Wise D.V.M

I’ve been working in the field of veterinary medicine for 14 years. I’ve always loved animals, and grew up riding horses on the beach in my home state of Rhode Island. After graduating with my D.V.M in the same class as Tara, I started working with small animals near the Bay Area. As my two wonderful boys are now growing, I’m excited to be at SVG to allow more time for my family. The best part about working here is the great team I get to work with every day, and developing relationships with our clients. I wish pet owners knew that we really care for our patients like they were our own family.

  • Sheri Clinical Supervisor

I have been working in Veterinary Medicine for 29 years, all here at Sonora Veterinary Group. I love to garden, go camping with my family and dogs, and go the beach as often as possible. My love for these amazing patients are what get me out of bed every day, and what I love most about my work. Working at SVG for so long, I can say it is the people I work with that make every day feel supported and cared for. My greatest pride is my children, who have grown into such strong and honorable men. One thing I wish pet owners knew is that we really do treat your family members like they are our own.

  • Mary R.V.T

After 13 years in this industry, I can say that I know what makes this job amazing; I love these patients. With the support of my amazing family, and the fun we have at my work family, taking great care of people pets is what makes me want to get out of bed. I love to garden, go wine tasting, and work with my husband. I’m most proud of my amazing daughter, and the life my husband and I are building. The best thing about this job is the people I work with, and knowing the high level of care we provided to patients. One thing I wish pet owners knew is how much we truly care for each pet as if they were our own.

  • Rianna R.V.T

I’ve been with SVG for 7 of my 9 years in Veterinary Medicine. When I’m not at work, I love ridding my Peloton and spending time with family. For me, the magic of medicine is when we help a sick or injured animal get back home to their family. Seeing how excited the pets are to see their parents is the best. The best part about working at SVG is how family oriented they are, and each person genuinely cares about every patient that comes into the office. I am most proud of becoming a mother, and I love how supportive my amazing husband is.

  • Kim R.V.T

I have been in Veterinary Medicine for over 20 years. I took a small break and tried another career, but came back to working as an R.V.T, knowing I had found a passion that I can’t quit. I’m new to the area and new to the hospital, but the staff and the clients have made me feel so welcome. In my off time I love to be outdoors, and cooking. The best part about my job is to see the difference I can make for the wellbeing of an animal, and their owners too. For me, giving my best effort and staying true to my word are my greatest strengths. Working at SVG, I’ve grown to really enjoy the clients and my coworkers. I love how SVG feels like a family, everyone is really supportive of each other. Something I wish pet owners knew, is that we are here for the right reasons, and all we want to do is to provide great care for your pet.

  • Kianna DVM Student

Though I have only been at SVG since 2020, I know I have found my life’s work. After graduating from San Diego with my Bachelors, I came looking to see if Vet Med would be my future. Now working with the doctors and staff, I have learned so much. This experience has convinced me to apply and be accepted into a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine Program. What I love the most is being able to help animals every day, and working with amazing coworkers. I always give my best to have a great work ethic. I love working at SVG because they have opened up so many learning opportunities for me, I learn something new every day. When I’m not at work, I love to hike, swim, cook, and play with my cats. I wish every pet owner knew just how much we care for each and every pet at SVG.

  • Laura Veterinary Assistant

I have been in Vet Med for over 40 years. My interests are my family, my home and my animals. I love teaching my granddaughter to ride and to help me around my farm/ranch. I also love to garden and work in my apple orchard. It is amazing to be able to work with the staff at SVG and still gain knowledge after 40 years. I began my career with Dr. Bennett by volunteering to learn anything that would help enhance my horse training career. I was quickly hired on, and there is nothing that can compare with the knowledge I have received and the care which has been paid forward while working here. Something I wish all pet owners knew is that behind closed doors at SVG, there is a care and responsibility for the pets and their owners that some people just don’t see. To see our doctors cry when there are some things beyond their control is heartbreaking.

  • Marissa Veterinary Assistant

Animals have always been a love of mine, and after 5 years of working at SVG, I know just how fulfilling this career can be. I love being outdoors: Hiking, camping, and spending time with my family and my pup are my favorite non-work activities. Being at SVG, I get to make a difference in the lives of animals every day; and their people too. I learn something new every day, the doctors here love to teach. I’m most proud of being able to overcome obstacles and be on my way to my RVT license. The best part about working here is how much teaching goes on, from my coworkers and the physicians. And of course, the puppies and kittens! I wish every pet owner knew that we care about their pets as much as we care about ours. We put a lot of extra hours in to make sure every pet gets what they need.

  • Ethan Kennel Tech

I have worked for SVG for 4 years, taking great care of the hospital and keeping patients clean. When I’m not working, I enjoy mountain biking, building computers, working out, and making things with my 3-D printer. My passion for this work comes from wanting to help animals and their families get through whatever is wrong. I’m most proud of my dogs, and my family. Working at SVG, my favorite part is being able to spend time with the animals and give them the comfort they need when their parents aren’t able to. I also love the people I work with. Something I wish pet owners knew is just how much we really do care for their fur-family.

  • Noor Kennel

I have always been interested in science, and this is my first job working in veterinary medicine. When I’m not spending quality time with the patients, I enjoy reading and getting outside for a good hike. Animals have always been a huge passion of mine, and I love that I am now growing in this great field of work. My parents immigrated to the U.S, and as a first generation I am most proud of the advanced education and success I have been able to gain. When it comes to working at Sonora Vet Group, I love spending my time with the animals. I also love how I learn something every day. The doctors and staff always share something interesting, and it keeps me growing. Something I wish all pet owners knew is that animals are not just pets. Bringing an animal into the home is adding a member of the family. That is the way I think of it, and it is the way Sonora Vet Group treats every pet.

  • Jess Reception

I started working at a veterinary office in the Bay Area in 2004 when I was just 18yrs old, and now I have been in the field for 17yrs. I love reading and keeping up with current events and spending time with my family. I also enjoy exploring the trails, swimming in the local swimming holes, and visiting Yosemite. What I love about my job is being the comforting voice to our clients when they are concerned about their pets and being the bridge in communication between the veterinarian and client. In my own life, I’m proud of the son my husband and I are raising. Even at just 7yrs old, he already displays such a kind and gentle heart. That makes me the proudest, knowing I’m molding my son into being a caring and empowering human being. I love the team camaraderie working with the Sonora Veterinary Group Family. Leaving behind the office I had worked at for 16 years was hard but feel that I have found an office that I fit in with and share the same values for client and patient care. I wish that pet owners knew that the veterinarians and their team work really hard in finding the answers to your pets’ illness. Trust your veterinarian and know that we are all working hard at this office to help your fur baby feel better.

After working as a critical care nurse for 11 years, I found myself at a crossroads. My wife Tara and I purchased Sonora Veterinary Group just 20 days before our daughter Eva was born. After just 14 days off work, Tara was back at the office. I transitioned from managing a human hospital to managing a veterinary hospital to support her at home. (see my progress here) What I am most excited about, is creating a place where “Work does not hurt!”, and reinforcing that work should be a place for personal growth and stability to handle the real struggle that is life. I love to ride motorcycles, photography, wine and good food. My favorite thing about working at SVG is that it’s my job to make sure everyone has a great job. I wish every pet owner could be reminded that a doctor who is able to do surgery, diagnose problems, give chemotherapy, handle complex medical management, and preventative care on a budget for many kinds of animals; is a pretty extraordinary doctor.
